Falling rocks can be a major concern when rock climbing; nobody wants to be knocked off the wall. Senior Outdoor Product Design and Development student Shelby McCashland recommends the Black Diamond Vector climbing helmet to protect from just such an occasion.
“It keeps my noggin’ safe, which is pretty cool,” McCashland said. “I would recommend it. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and a good price point.”
According to Black Diamond, this helmet is ideal for alpine climbs and other weight sensitive adventures. The combination of ventilation and lightweight technology makes it perfect for warm days. When the day ends, the built in headlamp will light the way up to the summit. The helmet retails for just under $100, and comes in orange, white, blue and black.
“Once I forgot to wear it and almost had a softball size rock hit my head, but it luckily missed me by a couple inches,” McCashland said.
Protect your head with the Black Diamond Vector climbing helmet on your next ascent, and check back next week for another Aggie Gear Guide.
